Neuro came in and did this to our daughter!
(no more neck brace)
They also said they were going to take the 39 or so stiches out of her head. And the charge nurse from the Neuroscience Trauma unit came in and started getting her information so they could get her room setup and get her moved over after lunch. It makes me feel sad that our daughter is making big steps like this and some of our friends are still struggling. I know our heavenly father is watching over everyone I am so grateful we are having more good days than bad now. We are just sitting here kinda bracing for the next bad day to come. Hopefully it doesn't but you never know. We are staying hopeful. She opened her right eye a little bit for the Neurosurgeon today which was a first. She is gaining more and more movement as she goes. Thank you all so much for your love and support. I can never thank you enough.
Love,
Pace and Liz

Hi Pace & Liz,
I wanted to do my part to help out and I have a fundraiser I would like to do, but I wanted your permission and approval first, when and if you do get a chance just email me at aashaner@cascadeaccess.com and then I can email you back the details! I'd be more than happy to help out in any way I can!
Thanks, Angela Shaner
WOO HOO! That's what we like to hear! She looks like our Kairi more and more. YAY! We're so excited! So can you hold her now? -M&M
Oh my gosh, What a difference a day makes. I am so sad that we came home and I don't get to hold her. Give her a kiss from Grandpa and Me. We miss you and are so happy to see what progress can be made in 24 hours. We love you guys,
Dad and Mom
She is so dang cute!!! She looks better and better everytime you post new pictures! Thank you for posting the one of her eye open, she is beautiful! Still praying for your little princess! She is obviously pretty special to alot of people! Sadee says "mom she's my favorite", not even knowing Kairi and me just showing her the new picture and telling her whats going on she told me that! Like i said kids are amazing! Especially little girls! :)

YEAH! That is great!! I can't believe how open that eye is. Good to hear that she was able to open her right eye a little. I hope that you get to hold her soon. When you do, give her a hug from each of us. Sadie was so excited that her eye was open.
What good news today!! she is just a little trooper she has really made great progress! We have you in are hearts and Prayers!!!
Love THE TEXAS SMITH BUNCH!
Pace & Liz, I smiled when you posted: "We are just sitting here kinda bracing for the next bad day to come. Hopefully it doesn't but you never know. " Unfortunately, the answer to that is "yes", they do come. But through experience, I can tell you that when they do come again, we are better prepared. Our testimonies are stronger, we have experienced the faith, the love, and the trust, already, so it is easier to have the faith, and have the trust to say "Thy Will Be done", next time. Yup, that is what we agreed to in the pre-existence: that we would come to earth and face our trials with faith, love, and trust. I always say: What was I thinking of when I agreed to that ???!!! But deep down inside, we wouldn't want it any other way..would we??? Pace, I met you, what?? once or twice, and I don't think I have never met Liz or your precious Kai Kai.Yet, during the past couple of weeks you have all touched my life and my heart more than you will ever know. Thank You!! Thank You for helping me to remember what my priorities are!! Love ya all tons, Cuzzin Bonnie
Pace and Liz,
We love you, our prayers are with you all. We are so excited that Kairi is doing as well as she is! Remember to take care of yourselves and each other during this journey too. It's going to be a long one, but your family will come out all the stronger for it. Keep the faith!
Love,
Colleen and Larry
Yeah! I'm so happy to see this picture with her eye open! Congratulations. What amazing improvements she is showing! :) I just wanted to let you know that I have been following Kairi's story the whole time....she has been in my prayers, fast, and thoughts. I hope the best for your family. Stay strong!...you are examples to SO MANY!
