Great Day!

Today we had a lot of fun at the aquarium we got to see an octupus some jelly fish and some sharks. Kairi got to touch a starfish, a horseshoe crab, a sea cucmber, and a sea urchin. She had a lot of fun and didnt get over stimulated from it. we left the hospital at around 2pm and got back at around 530 she was awake the whole time happy to be out and about. we are so excited to be able to take her out on the weekends for a couple hours. Thank you all so very much for your concern, love, and prayers.

Kairi's Aunt Ashlie shot a 7 x 7 Elk today on opening day of the hunt. Lucky Duck!

I will post pictures of the days events in the morning our camera died and need to charge it up.

We love you all!

Busy Saturday!

We got to the hospital today and Kairi was already at PT. They said she did really good. Then OT brought her back and Kairi dressed herself (with help) then they went back down to the gym to play. Speech therapy came at around 11 and Kairi tasted peaches and grilled cheese sandwich. Now we are just hanging out until 2 when we can leave the hospital and take Kairi to the aquarium. I am way excited to take her I think Pace is too. We are meeting my brother, sister-in-law, nephew and sister there. Then next weekend we are going to try to go the zoo with Pace's family.

Oh and after OT Kairi told the therapist "bye". It was so clear.

We will take pics and probably some video of the field trip.

Thanks for everything everyone is doing!!

Kairi and Talking

So Kairidecided today she would talk a little more she was saying Momma tons and tons. So liz started replying Kairi And she said Ma-Ree Then we got her to say daddy once Karee Once . But thats not the best part. We started singing songs with her about a half hour ago and Bam guess who was singing along. Yup Kairi. She sand Wheels on the bus, Patty Cake, Little House in the woods and Baby Shark! YES! She helped sing in all those songs. She got about 10 words of each song in but they were all different and she pulled them out and pronounced them clearly! We got video of her singing some of Patty Cakes im trying to load it now.

We are so very impressed with our Blessed little Girl she makes us so happy every day to see her and we love her so much. Thank you all for your prayers and great deeds of service you perform. We love you all!

Kairi Loves to Smile

Kairi has been really smiley since they fixed her G-Tube. She has just been doing so awesome. I think it started going bad fast and was bad the whole time slowly getting worse. She is doing really great now! We can snuggle up to her belly rub it and everything and she doesn't whine or complain. She just smiles. She started trying to say Kairi today. It comes out Ma-ree though because her brain is stuck on Mama everytime she says something it comes out Mama.

She got upgraded in beds today. She got her hospital bed taken out and now has her matress on the floor. This is because she moves around a lot at night and they dont want her falling out of bed.

I've got a few videos and pictures to load so I will be trying them throughout the day. It is great to see her happy and starting to see her come back.

We did take a step back today when my Parents house flooded. Some of our stuff was in there but its just stuff and I don't think anything other than the floors really got hurt. Im glad the house took the hit instead of one of the grandbabies.

Thank you all for you love and concern

Eating and Rehab!!

Kairi is back to full feeds!! She had therapy today and did great. And speech came. I told her about when Kairi put the bread in her mouth and asked if we could do meltable solids like those gerber puff things and she brought crackers. Kairi loved it. She took it right from the therapist and went to town. The first time she choked a little but I think that was because her mouth was way dry. Then she tasted pudding and applesauce. The therapist put a little bit of apple juice in a medicine cup and Kairi grabbed it and put it right to her mouth and drank it. And she did the same with water. I was so excited. Prayers really do work!! I have been praying for about a week that she will start tasting stuff and today she did AWESOME!!! I think tomorrow she is going to try some real food like mashed potatoes or pancakes!!!

And after therapy we went for a walk to get ice cream. Pace shared his cone with Kairi she loved it. On our way back to the room the Rehab resident stopped me and said that Kairi was accepted into full rehab services!!!! YAY!!!!! We are hoping that this weekend we can take her somewhere like the aquarium or something.

We love you all so much and thank you for all your prayers, love and support.

I think it's fixed!!!

So this morning when Pace and I got here at 8 Kairi was up out of bed in her wheelchair sitting at the nurses station with her 2 babies and a huge smile on her face. I guess she kept moving sideways in her bed so they just took her out.

Then we took her down to x-ray and I brought her wheelchair back up to her room at 8:30 and not even 5 minutes after I got up here they called and said they needed her bed and that she was done.

She just barely wook up and is very smiley. She was calling for her mom so I came and took over. She just didn't want her dad. We counted her stitches in her head there are 111 of them where they replaced her boneflap which puts her total at 160 I believe. We are doing good. I am glad to be back close to her. I went to work on Monday and Tuesday it was good to get back to work but it was very hard being away from my baby.

Thank you all for your love and support we love you all.

Kairi's Belly

So they found that her G-Tube had pulled out of her stomach and was stuck in her abdominal wall they dont know why it would have come out. They had to pull it out the rest of the way. It hurt her Really Bad. And they tried to put a new one in that they could blow up after they got it in but couldnt get it into the stomach. After that they took her downstairs and put her under an Xray and got a wire into her stomach through the hole after 10-15 minutes. Then they threaded a catheter over the wire into her stomach. So now she has a catheter in her stomach to hold the hole open until they can put her under tomorrow and place a balloon G-Tube into her stomach. She is doing great she is quite the little trooper.

We love you all

X-Ray with contrast.

I stayed the night with Kairi last night and neither one of us slept very well. So this morning we told the dr. what was going on and they decided they needed to do a x-ray with contrast done so that we could see what was going on. They also tried to pull back some stomach content to see if there was anything in there. All they pulled back was blood.

So we went down to x-ray and they think that her peg is in the tract. So now we are just waiting for the dr.'s to decide what they will do from here.

Kairi is such a strong girl. She knows what is going on and tries her hardest at everything we ask her to do. She is waking up more and more everyday.

Thank you all for your prayers and love.

Feeding Problems...

So Kairi has been progressively being in more and more pain when her feeds get started. So I had Jenny come look at her and is very confused. So her and the nurse called the rehab dr. on call and her said to give her some zofran for nausea and wait until she is sleeping and try her feeds again very slowly to see if she wakes up or not. Then in the morning they will have the dr look at her.

Hope we have a good night. I am going to stay with Kairi tonight.

Thank you all for everything.

How much longer in the hospital???!!!

So this afternoon our favorite nurse Jenny, who is on the rehab team, came to talk to us. Either on Thursday or Friday Kairi will be put on the REHAB services!!!!!! And then here for another 3-5 weeks. I was so surprised. I thought we would be here for at least 2-3 months. I was planning on how I was going to decorate Kairi's room for Halloween. But now we won't have to. I am so excited to be able to go home. I never would think I would be wanting to go back home to Mesquite but I really do. Just so we can start an actual routine and get Kairi into the Early Childhood Education program at the elementary school.

Then my mom, Kairi and I went down to the Angel Garden to feed the birds with a piece of bread. Kairi proceeded to rip a piece off and stick it in her mouth. I quickly pulled it out of her mouth because I was too scared that she might choke on it because she hasn't eaten anything for 6 weeks. So I am hoping that Speech will try to start getting her to taste things that are room temperature instead of ice cream and popsicles.

Thanks for all the support and prayers.

Therapies!!

OT came in at about 8:30 and helped Kairi dress herself, wash her face and brush her teeth. Then we went down to the rehab gym and Kairi played with the marble maze and when they would have her sit down for a break she would whine a little becuase she didn't want to sit down. Then they had her walk with a little walker. They were still holding onto her a little and helping her a bit with her right leg. It gets half way and then stops so they just giver her a little boost. Then Speech just stopped by and Kairi just smells a sucker, popsicle and chocolate ice cream. And she would rub Kairi's face and lips. She did good with that. But she still won't taste anything.

Kairi is going to have PT, OT, and Speech again this afternoon.

Sunday Night

Kairi did awesome at church today. She did awesome all day. It was kind of hard with Pace being gone, but I am just going to have to get used to it. My whole family came up to Salt Lake for family dinner. It was nice to see everyone. Kairi even came down with us.

I am so thankful for our Heavenly Father who loves us so much. I know this was all part of the plan, but some days it is so hard for me to realize that. I am so grateful for such a loving husband who is so STRONG!!! He is amazing. He helps me more that he will ever know. I don't know what I would do without him.

Thank you all for your love and prayers. There is one thing in particular that I would like everyone to pray for. Kairi is having a hard time with liking things being put in her mouth. Speech has been trying to get her to taste things but she won't have anything to do with it. I have such a hard time brushing her teeth, and she does not like anything near her mouth. Not even "lip" (chapstick). So if we all could pray that Kairi will not be so protective of her mouth so she can start eating, that would be great. Once again thank you all for everything that you do.

Love,
Liz & Kairi

P.S. hApPy BiRtHdAy Elaine!!! Hope you had a great day!

P.P.S. HAPPY GRANDPARENTS DAY!!

Sunday Morning

So Pace left to go back to Mesquite yesterday. I think he is going to try to go back to work for the week.
Kairi slept really well last night. The night nurse accidentally feed Kairi 240 cc of food instead of 180 cc twice last night every 3 hours and Kairi didn't throw up!!! So this morning we are trying the 240 every 4 hours. I really hope she can tolerate it.

I am bringing Kairi to church with me this morning. She did so good last week. And then they gave her a primary lesson. She really liked that.

I will post more when things happen.

Saturday Morning

So Therapies started today at 8:00am WOW! we never wake up that early anymore. So we got up and got here at about 8:05am and the therapists were here working with Kairi already. They had her sitting up in bed getting ready to brush her teeth. In therapy she crawled to some bracelets on the ground. Then when she would grab one she would immediately put it on one handed. Then she played on an alligator Xylophone. After that she walked to a table and played on a piano while standing up. They wore her out pretty good. She is sitting up getting fed right now. She is very sleepy like her parents. Thank you all for looking we love you all.

Friday Night

This afternoon Kairi had afternoon therapies, she did really good as usual. Then we just hung out in her room the rest of the day. We did go for a walk to the angel garden, it was a little cold for her so we didn't stay outside for too long.

Not much has been draining from her head so hopefully it will be taken out tomorrow. The swelling is going down more and more.

Kairi must have grown a ton since she has been here because we put an outfit on her from home and it doesn't fit very well. Pediasure with fiber must be like miracle grow or something.

Thank you all for your love and support.

Kairi Benefit Dinner Changes

The benefit dinner for Kairi is still on Sept 12 but the time has changed to 5:30 and it in now at the parking lot next the baseball fields at the Virgin Valley High School. If you have any questions call Erin Mickleson 435-256-2328 or Tabitha Abbott 435-863-5982.

Friday Therapies

So today I was trying to get all my movies to a DVD so that i could clear up some space but no it didnt work and it bogged down the computer so bad i could post anything.

Today Kairi has been doing awesome! She got to ride a bike today in therapy she did almost all the work herself. She also did a lot of walking and got to play with shaving cream. I also have a really special video of her. I have been trying to get it to post too but its not working. I am going to try and get them all up today so you can see them. Her face is still really swollen but she is doing good. They bumped her up to 45 minute sessions in therapy today so she alsmot to the 1 hour mark. In speech therapy she was stubborn and didnt want to participate with them. She has therapy again at 1:45pm so i will get hopefully more footage of her there.

Thank you all for looking!

We love you all so much.
